“Twist” is located at the Georgetown Public Library outside the 9th Street entrance.
Artist: Peter Mangan
Dimensions: 7’6″H x 4’W x 2’D
Materials: Galvanized and Patinated Steel with Fused Glass
A whimsical welcoming abstract figure greets the viewer. The sculpture is a vertical presence topped with fused glass and stainless steel elements.
“Living and working in Texas affects the artwork I create. The people, nature, and landscape are unique and filter into what I produce.
Creating artwork enables me to use planning and intuition to make sculptures that communicate to others. The struggle with ideas, materials, and tools is a challenge. It is rewarding to bring something original into the world and see how people respond.
Metals and glass are my primary media. The solid metal is an interesting contrast to the transparent glass. Old and new techniques are used, from laser-jet metal cutting to medieval glass painting methods.
I have been a self-employed artist for 33 years. My artwork has been shown and collected in the U.S.A., Europe, and Japan.” Peter Mangan
