Event Details

The Georgetown Public Library hosts “Live Music at the Library” at 2 pm the third Sunday of most months of the year; the concerts are free and open to the public, and no longer require registration. Seating is limited to 200 attendees.

Texas Bach Festival with guest bass-baritone Gil Zilkha, and pianist Rick Rowley

Mr. Zilkha and Mr. Rowley will perform Winterreise (Winter Journey), a song cycle for voice and piano by Franz Schubert (D911, published as Op. 89 in 1828), a setting of 24 poems by German poet Wilhelm Müller.  Although Ludwig van Beethoven’s cycle An die ferne Geliebte (To the Distant Beloved) was published earlier, in 1816, Schubert’s Winterreise cycle holds the foremost place in the genre’s history.
