The Sarofim School of Fine Arts’ Music Department is proud to present a cello concert with Douglas Harvey as part of the Sarofim Music Series.
Texas native Douglas Harvey is a renowned solo cellist and principal cellist of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Austin Opera Orchestras. His love of music began at a young age, and after making his way through music schools across the country, he became the youngest principal cellist of the Austin Symphony Orchestra at the age of 24. He earned the Austin Critics Table Award for Outstanding Instrumentalist for a performance of Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote that led the San Antonio Express News to describe his sound as having “rich tone, beautiful vibrato, assertive and sensitive phrasing.” He has featured in both national and international tours, including two tours with Talking Heads singer and guitarist David Byrne.
