Gretchen Peterson Johnston has deep roots in Georgetown, Texas. Her grandparents and father were born here, as well as numerous extended family and in-laws. Gretchen has been evolving her artistic expression for decades, designing clothing; creating sterling silver artisan jewelry; painting portraits and
landscapes in a variety of media; faux finishing luxury homes; painting theater sets and murals.

This collection of paintings explores areas in and around Georgetown that we all have seen but may not immediately recognize. . .the hidden back alleys, green spaces, and industrial structures that will seem familiar and have us asking “where is that?!” Otherwise unglamourous views can become studies in light, shadow, and texture.

Gretchen works by commission for portraiture and specialized landscapes.
