My Favorite Place: a Photography Exhibit by Karen Limbaugh

Photographer Karen Limbaugh says, “I consider myself lucky that I have been able to travel over the last several years to some amazing places both domestically and internationally. Since I connect so strongly with nature, most of my photographs show the landscapes of the places I have been able to experience. People just don’t often appear in my photos.

Of course, I enjoy seeing the iconic sites that most people go to see. However, I like to find the less popular places and my photos reveal some of the additional hidden treasures I see.

I always count myself especially lucky when I encounter some of the animal residents of the area and the fact that I was able to capture some of their personality in my photos.

It is easy to say, “This is my Favorite Place” at every place I photograph.

I have always had a strong connection to nature. I was able to start communicating my connection when I started taking photos in the 1970’s. I had a Ricoh film camera with a zoom lens that also had a macro feature. That was all it took, and I was off and running taking landscape photos and close-up photos of flowers. This opened a whole new world for me! I am mostly self-taught, but have been able to take several photography tours and classes where I have gained a lot of knowledge.

Opportunities for traveling domestically and abroad allow me to take some amazing photos to highlight the experiences and capture the beauty of the area.

My connection to nature still drives my photography. I am constantly improving not only my photographic skills, but my post-processing skills as well. I am thankful to be able to share the beauty that I experience in my travels both near and far with others. My favorite place is always the place where I am taking photographs at that moment.
