7 Continents, 7 Decades: A photo journal of my travels

by Ellen Greeney

Thank you for taking the time to view my exhibit at City Hall. I hope you enjoy seeing the beauty and contrast of these wondrous locales.

In my seven decades, I’ve been truly blessed to have traveled all over the world experiencing different cultures, seeing fascinating people and places, ancient treasures and amazingly beautiful scenery. I speak several languages, sort of, if you count learning to say hello, good bye, thank you, excuse me, no, WC and how much for each new location.

My footprints have appeared on all seven continents while exploring scores of countries, nations, kingdoms, republics, principalities, provinces, pueblos, islands, a city-state and even a grand Duchy: from a walkabout in the tiny Most Serene Republic of San Marino to a patriotic parade in the failed German Democratic Republic and a river cruise in the largest country, ‘mother’ Russia.

Many unique and breathtaking places remain in my future travel and photo plans: cherry blossom time in Japan, the Scandinavian capitals, wild animal migrations and safaris in Kenya, Maasai people and Mt. Kilimanjaro at sunset in Tanzania.

There are no fancy professional cameras or lens in my bag. My photos were taken with an iPad mini, iPhone 7S and an iPhone 11.

This exhibit is dedicated to my part-time travel partner and full-time husband, Jim; my photography mentor, Wes Odell; and my helpful photo critics, Ted Keller and Sue Puetz.

Please enjoy and let me know if you have a favorite, GreeneyPhotos@gmail.com.

The Gallery Wall at City Hall will exhibit four local artists per year, with opportunities for students from Georgetown Independent School District and Southwestern University to exhibit their work. The exhibitions are by invitation and are designed to align with current Georgetown Arts and Culture Programming. To be considered for an invitation by the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board, local artists may submit their resume and portfolio to arts@georgetown.org.
