“‘Perspectives’ is about the examination of the world around me,” says Gary R. Hook of his upcoming solo photography exhibit. Photography both allows and encourages an innate curiosity to spend more time looking at things, because we are surrounded by things worth of exploration. This applies to pretty much everything, some of which you’ll see in this exhibit: nature, geology, and architecture are represented, but are just a portion of what excites his eye and captures his interest.

“I approach photography as not only a mechanism for documenting, but as a method for encouraging the viewer to look more closely, differently, carefully. A means by which I can inspire the viewer to pause and find within a response to what the universe might choose to present to us. While nature in its entirety is hugely motivational for me, I have discovered that man-made objects are just as deserving of attention. And so I will point my camera at whatever catches my eye, so that I can share with the viewer my perspective on the world.”
